Power in numbers! Tabula Digita engages students in the instruction and learning of mathematics. Pre-algebra and algebra objectives are covered through a series of missions that bring math into a world that today's students understand. Students become so captivated in solving problems that they forget they're learning but they don't forget what they've learned. |
New York City Office of Instructional Technology Pilot Program |
In Spring, 2008 100 middle and high schools, will be selected through an online application process, to participate in a pilot Tabula Digita Initiative. Partially subsidized by the Office of Instructional Technology, three classes per school will receive a year's subscrition to this innovative e-learning environment, professional development opportunities, ongoing technical support, and an opportunity to compete in a citywide competition.

- Professional training for teachers on how to excite 21st Century students about mathematics in a program that increases scores and engages and excites sutdents
- A 3 class license for DimensionM software that teachers can use in their classrooms
- Free home use for students in the three pilot classes, allowing for extended time on task
- Web-based reporting tools so teachers understand student time on task and strengths and weaknesses
- Ongoing support through professional development, e-mail, phone, and tech support
- Participation in City-Wide Annual Tournament

During the energy-packed competition, students will go head-to-head using their math skills to advance through timed video games. To move ahead, and ultimately win the tournament, students will have to navigate through numerous mathematical obstacles, and compete with their fellow students to score points. |
