IMPROVING STUDENTS' UNDERSTANDING OF GEOMETRY GRANTS
The purpose of this grant is to develop activities that will enable students to better appreciate and understand some aspect of geometry that is consistent with the principles and standards for school mathematics of NCTM. For 2009-2010, grants with a maximum of $3,000 each will be awarded to persons currently teaching grades K-8. Deadline is November 14, 2008. LD ONLINE. TEACHERS: VISIT THIS SITE TO HELP YOUR LEARNING DISABLED STUDENTS
More than 2.9 million school-age children in the United States - approximately five percent of the student population - are diagnosed with learning disabilities. Many more struggle in school but never receive a formal diagnosis. LD OnLine provides educators and parents of these children with accurate, authoritative information about learning disabilities. The Web site, LD OnLine.org, provides accurate and up-to-date information and advice about learning disabilities and ADHD. The site features hundreds of helpful articles, multimedia, monthly columns by noted experts, first-person essays, children's writing and artwork, a comprehensive resource guide, very active forums, and a Yellow Pages referral directory of professionals, schools, and products.

SEEDS FOR EDUCATION FUND
This grant offers $100-$500 for the purchase of native plants and seeds in support of replanting. The offer comes from the Wild Ones, which has chapters nationwide. The mission of this organization is to sponsor seminars and field trips, and to rescue native plants from destruction brought about by the development of roads and buildings.
