The Office of Instructional Technology (OIT) is embarking on an innovative year long initiative to facilitate school leaders with the skills, knowledge and expertise to prepare their educational community for the 21st century. The iLead program was developed with the goal of preparing school based instructional leaders to meet the needs, challenges and demands of the modern day educational environment by incorporating the latest information technology practices into their daily routines. The foundation of this program is to recognize the rewards of leading a 21st century school into the future by guiding them in promoting the effective integration of technology into their classrooms and provide them with the technology skills to view, manipulate and analyze data to better inform their decision making process.
The program launched in summer 2007 with an iLead Instructional Technology Leadership Orientation Institute which guided leaders through four days of instruction focused on relevant research and alignment to the National Education Technology Standards for Administrators (NETS-A). Throughout the school year those participants have had opportunities for ongoing support including hands-on workshops, technology conferences, intervisitations at schools that demonstrate instructional technology best practices, study groups, and onsite consultations to support instructional technology goals and objectives. All participants have access to online communication and collaboration tools created for this program.
Spring 2008 launched our second round of Cohorts during which we expanded our reach to include Aspiring Principals in the Leadership Academy. |
